Emily Atack: I'm not fussy when it comes to holidays – give me Ibiza with loads of lads and booze

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! was like a big detox in the jungle

Like rehab, really. I was having gorgeous sleeps. You’re not having caffeine or sugar or wine, so there’s none of the usual crashes. I just felt so happy. And the sounds that you go to sleep with at night and the sounds that you wake up with in the morning, it’s like you’re on a movie set. It felt like being in Jurassic Park. It was unbelievable and made me feel so alive.

I’m so easily pleased when it comes to holidays

Stick me in Ibiza where there’s a load of lads and booze and a couple of nice dinners and that will do for me.

An average day in Ibiza?

Arrive, dump stuff in a s---hole hotel (maybe a slightly nicer villa now that I’m a bit older), spend hours piling on the make-up and squeezing into the most ridiculous outfit you have ever seen, stick a few jewels on our skin and some face paint, and add 10 bottles of hairspray. Then drink vodka and Fanta out of these cheap plastic cups, grab a slice of pizza, and head out at midnight to hit the big clubs, such as Sankeys or Space, then come home at about eight in the morning. We might venture down to the pool the next afternoon for a white chocolate Magnum on a lilo and a little flirt, then do the same thing all over again. It is literally eat, sleep, rave, repeat.

I loved my family holidays in Mojácar, in Andalucia, when I was growing up

We had a property there and my dad sold it a couple of years ago, but it’s our favourite place on Earth and we still go there every single year and stay in a hotel – so if I’m not partying in Ibiza with my mates, I’ll be in Mojácar with my family. It’s where I go to do a bit more resting, as it’s so quiet and I don’t get any problems with the paparazzi there.

When I go away with my mum and my sister I do like to find a pretty church

I go and sit in one and I’ll just have a think about things for 20 minutes. I’ll think about people in my life, about what I want my next step of my life to be. I think about people I have lost and I light a candle for them. Some people call it praying, but for me it’s just about having a nice long think about something that’s a little bit bigger and greater than you. It feels like I’ve cleansed my soul a little bit. I’m into all that. Mainly when I’m hungover.

My sister came to visit me in New York when I was there filming a movie called The Hoarder

We just had the best four days ever. We walked around Central Park, did all the cheesy touristy stuff and we arrived in Times Square saying, “Right let’s crack on with a beer now,” but you’re not allowed to drink in the open there. We thought we could hang out on the streets like in London, but you have to go and have a sit-down meal, so we just got a bottle of wine and drank it in Central Park. It was so much fun! I just love having fun. Life is so short. Whatever situation I’m in, I’m always, “Right, how can we push it as far as we can?”

The best place in the world for a night out is London

I go out in London constantly, trying out new bars and restaurants. Top of the list would be Café Boheme in Soho. When it’s summer, and we’re not in a pandemic, my favourite thing is to go out after I finish a voice-over in town at about 4pm. I’ll have a nice outfit on and I’ll get someone to come and meet me – always a bloke that I fancy having a flirt with – and we’ll sit there with a chicken Caesar salad and a glass of rosé and just listen to a live band and watch London go by. I love it.

I’m a sucker for a foreign market stall

Especially the ones that have piles and piles of rings and jewellery. Whenever I go somewhere new, I get a ring. My fingers are covered in rings from all over the world.

Two years ago, I went to Sardinia with my mum and absolutely loved it

We stayed in one of those comical hotels that you see in films, where everything is a bit broken and there’s just one man running the entire thing, who ends up letting you drink free carafes of wine, and then picks you up from the local restaurant at midnight, every night. I think I snogged one of the barmen in front of my mum. The restaurant was completely deserted and my mum said, “You’re going to be disappointed, Emily. I don’t think you’re going to pull on this holiday,” but I was like, “You just watch.” I love flirting with waiters. It’s my favourite thing.

You can’t go wrong with Spanish waiters, as I discovered when I was younger

The waiters used to say to me, “Muy guapa”. I asked my mum, “What does ‘muy guapa’ mean?” and she said, “You don’t want to know”. It means “beautiful”, so that then became my nickname around Spain. I was like, “Woohoo!”

My family call me Doctor Booze because I know when to drink which drink

They call me and I give them a Doctor Booze consultation. They’ll say: “It’s 1pm and I’ve already had two proseccos and I’ve got a bit of a headache. What do I do now?” and I’ll prescribe them: “OK, have you eaten? Have a cheese toastie and then stick to white wine.”
