Emilia Wickstead Fuses a '70s New York Feeling With British Design for Fall 2024

For Fall 2024, Emilia Wickstead marries British design sensibility with the feeling evoked from images of New York City in the '60s and '70s.
On Instagram, the brand described its latest collection as "inspired by the metropolitan essence of mid-century New York." Wickstead often turns to archival photography when designing for her namesake brand; this season, British Vogue reported that she drew specifically from New York City style in the '60s and '70s. This influence is most apparent in the silhouettes (especially the mini dresses, loose suiting and tailored outerwear) and the color palette (which includes both warm browns, mustards and grays reminiscent of the '60s, plus more electric blues, pinks and greens that call the psychedelic '70s to mind). Wickstead incorporates more contemporary details, such as revealing V-necks and asymmetric draping, to bring these ideas to the 21st century. (And the styling by Harry Lambert gives it that modern-day city sensibility.)
