While the White Walkers might have risen, and given that winter has arrived, you might expect that those in Westeros might have an idea of how things are going to end, but according to Emilia Clarke the cast of Game of Thrones are totally in the dark, too.

Over the last few months we’ve been given some rather interesting details about Game of Thrones. Firstly, we were told exactly when the seventh season of the popular HBO fantasy drama would be returning (July 16th FYI), and were even gifted with the teaser trailer, too (and it was pretty darn epic!).

What’s more, we were also told that the show’s eighth and final season would be the shortest yet. While Season 7 is set to be seven episodes long, Season 8 is only going to consist of six (!) episodes, and we have to admit that our hearts broke a little.

Yet, if you were wondering how Game of Thrones might all end, you might not want to ask the cast as according to Emilia Clarke none of them have an clue.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Daily News, Clarke said that they were as much in the dark as we were.

“No one knows anything. No one is told anything. It’s all crazy,” she admitted.

In fact, she said, the cast aren’t to be trusted.

“It’s a secret from the cast. We generally can’t be trusted. They pretty much have told us so,” Clarke explained.

Emilia Clarke’s comments echo a certain Kit Harrington, who also admitted that he knew nothing (Jon Snow).

“Everyone’s been wondering how it’s going to end, and what’s going to happen right from the get-go, and theorizing about it,” he said earlier this year. “It’s really exciting to me not knowing, genuinely having no idea where it’s going to end, what they’ve got in their heads, and being the first to find out.”

In fact, Emilia Clarke compared her experiences being kept in the dark and having to withhold secrets to working on another high profile project: the untitled Han Solo movie.

“I genuinely can’t tell you anything other than Alden is magnificent, and it’s a delight to do something on that level with really cool actors and nice people,” she teased. “But it’s even scarier talking about that than Game of Thrones.

We know that Disney are pretty strict when it comes to discussing any upcoming projects, and we imagine that, given how desperate for news Star Wars fans are, it must be hard not to slip up.

Of course, we don’t have too long to wait until Game of Thrones returns, and there are plenty of spoilers circulating around on the internet. In fact, it’s thought that the entire plot of Season 7 leaked online, and earlier this month we were gifted with some rather intriguing images from the show, too. SO. EXCITING.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on July 16th.
