On last night’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Emilia Clarke admitted that her meet-cute with Prince William didn’t go quite as planned. While discussing her visit to Kensington Palace earlier this year, the Game of Thrones star revealed that she got too caught up in the formalities—like not turning your back on the prince and addressing him as “Your Royal Highness”—to make a good impression.
Clarke says, “For whatever reason, probably because I was so scared, I couldn’t manage to get out ‘Your Royal Highness.’” Awkward.
Instead, the actress spat out unrecognizable gibberish in her tongue-tied state. Can you really blame her?
