Sitting among towering walls of ivy punctuated by Juliet balconies and bright red awnings, you'd be hard-pressed to think you were anywhere but the French countryside. However, this quaint eatery happens to be just steps from the River Seine — but you'd never know it.

The Hôtel Plaza Athénée is an iconic luxury hotel that offers sweeping views of the Eiffel Tower and the shops along Avenue Montaigne in the 8th Arrondissement. The boutique property is a favorite with Instagrammers for its beautiful rooms and views, along with celebrities for its luxe offerings. And for anyone looking for something serene, this hotel should be on your list. Just make sure to continue through the chateaux-like entryway, past the impeccably dressed staff and rows of ornate furnishings, and through glass double doors to be greeted with a truly bucolic scene.

La Cour Jardin is only open during the spring and summer months to capitalize on the beautiful Parisian weather. Head chef Jean Imbert created a whimsical menu highlighting the best seasonal ingredients, most of which are sourced locally. The team calls the dishes 'cuisine du soleil' or 'sunny cuisine' because the experience "perfectly captures the joy of sunny days in Paris." And what better way to enjoy dishes like ratatouille tart with parmesan sablé or cardinal prawn tartare with fennel salad than to be surrounded by a lush garden and utter silence?

The play on color also translates to the food, with Imbert dedicating half the menu to plant-based bites that celebrate the bright colors of seasonal fruits and vegetables. However, it's in the desserts where this place really shines.

In Paris, it's stiff competition when it comes to sweet treats, but at La Cour Jardin, you're in for a pleasant surprise. The wild strawberry Tropézienne is a personal favorite, or the tiramisu for two if you've come with company — or are just incredibly hungry.

While there are plenty of spots to add to your itinerary when in Paris, those looking for a break from the crowds should make a beeline here. Even if you dip in for a quick tea to recharge or jump right to dessert, there's no wrong way to do it. An afternoon spent enjoying the scenery and food on a warm summer day in Paris is never a bad one.
