'Embarrassed' Jelly Roll Confirms He Already Broke His 2023 CMA Award

Jelly Roll was overjoyed to be named New Artist of the Year at this year's CMA Awards—so much so that he may have gotten a little too excited.

The "Need a Favor" singer was given a shiny trophy for his big win at the 57th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 8, but after celebrating a little too much backstage, he ended up taking the award home in pieces.

"I'm so embarrassed," he confessed to Entertainment Tonight after accidentally breaking his brand new trophy. "I was so excited. I was swinging around to let somebody hold it."

The country star was honest about his overexcitement with the award, as he admitted, "I've been just letting everybody ... like a bag of potatoes, like we were just all sharing or something. I feel bad. Oh God."

But Jelly Roll was not completely disheartened by the incident, as he already had a plan to fix the problem while he joked, "I'm gonna get the one with tape."

Luckily, he was already able to snap a few photos posing with the trophy and he got to make an impassioned speech to the audience as he stepped on stage to accept the award.

The audience was practically moved to tears hearing Jelly Roll's inspiring message, during which he stated, "There's something poetic about a 39-year-old man winning New Artist of the Year."

"I don't know where you're at in your life or what you're going through, but I want to tell you to keep going, baby!" he encouraged the crowd and the viewers at home.

"I want to tell you success is on the other side of it," he continued. "I want to tell you it's gonna be okay. I wanna tell you that the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror for a reason because what's in front of you is so much more important than what's behind you."

"Good LAWD Jelly Roll I felt something watching this. Maybe the best acceptance speech ever," one user wrote on X after the show.

"JELLY ROLL FOR PRESIDENT!!!!" someone else exclaimed.
