Emanuel Ungaro RTW Spring 2023

With a mood board of Gauguin paintings, Kobi Halperin chose a tropical theme for spring, informing his colorful palette of fuchsias, reds, yellows and blues. Worked in a single rich hue, his draped and sun-pleated dresses made for a simple, vivid statement.

Kimono jackets, slipdresses and cropped pants were offered in contrasting red and pink, or alternatively in graphic black and white, appliquéd with outsize lace cutouts and given decadent fringed hems evoking regal shawls.

Reprised on understated silk wrap dresses in vibrant shades, the fringing added movement, an essential element of Halperin’s design ethos that was visible throughout the collection.

Giant floral prints continued the equatorial theme, as on a yellow and green ombré caftan with an abstract hibiscus motif. That resort staple also informed several of the tops in the lineup, sensual cover-up pieces that alternated with ruched slinky dresses and boned strappy tops or lightweight, fluid suiting in crinkled viscose.
