Vogue ’s Anna Wintour Shares Her London Fashion Week Highlights

This might have been the buzziest London Fashion Week in recent memory. Christopher Bailey bid a joyful, rainbow-striped farewell to Burberry; emerging talents like Matty Bovan and Richard Malone had breakthrough shows; and Queen Elizabeth II made a surprise appearance at Richard Quinn—then gave him an award in her name. But she also pointed out a big problem with Fashion Week in general: “I think the ritual of going to all the shows has become very stuck,” she says. “You may see beautiful clothes, but because it’s always the same, it does get a little repetitive.” Still, Wintour remains optimistic. “Now that we’re seeing a new generation [of designers] in both London and New York wanting to question everything and do it differently—how exciting and wonderful is that? That’s what fashion should be about.”
