Extravagance. It's all Elton John seems to know. Extravagant clothes, extravagant stage presence, extravagant way of being. This February, longtime admirers of the legendary singer may acquire a piece of that pomp, as property from his former Atlanta home is heading for sale at Christie's.

"This extraordinary collection not only showcases a diverse array of remarkable objects that encapsulate Elton's unique life, work, and art but also provides our clients with a glimpse into the profound impact that the city of Atlanta had on him," Tash Perrin, Deputy Chairman of Christie's Americas said in a release. According to him, Christie's Rockefeller Center galleries will transform into a series of designed immersive spaces, offering visitors a view into the world of Elton John two weeks leading up to the sale.

As Perrin mentions, The Collection of Sir Elton John: Goodbye Peachtree Road is essentially a material diary. John's deep passion for photographs can be seen in the selection of pieces from the sale which include works by Andry Warhol, Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Peter Beard, and Richard Avedon. His love for art can be seen in the works that are on sale and made personally for John and his husband David Furnish, which includes Damien Hirst's Your Song that is signed and inscribed 'xxx for Elton + David love Damien Thank You' (estimated value of $350,000-450,000), as well as a portrait of John by Julian Schnabel (estimated $200,000-300,000).

And, of course: fashion. There is a Cartier diamond, sapphire, and emerald dragonfly brooch; a Cartier 18k gold limited edition asymmetrical wristwatch with 'Crash' deployment; and a heart-shaped Cartier sapphire ring. Pieces from his stage wardrobe are on sale and include the ivory and gold ensemble by Annie Reavey designed in 1971 (estimated $8,000-12,000).

The sale will also include a few home decor items, including his grand piano (estimated at $30,000-50,000), art glass collections, and antiques from his global travels.

Ultimately, the sale is symbolic as a closing chapter in John's life. Atlanta played a crucial role in John's life and began when he acquired a condo in Park Place, on Peachtree Road. He moved to Atlanta after becoming sober in 1990 and, according to Christie's, found "solace in the warm community and recovery facilities of the city, such as the Triangle Club."
