If you've been following the news around the upcoming Netflix movie Interceptor, you'll know that there's some serious action going down—most of which is being performed by star Elsa Pataky.

The film, which drops on June 3, follows Captain JJ Collins, who must protect the last remaining interceptor to prevent a nuclear attack on the United States. But when their vessel is breached, Collins must do whatever it takes to keep the interceptor from falling into enemy hands.

In the trailer, Elsa rocks some intense action scenes that include swimming, one-armed pull-ups, and more. So, it comes as no surprise that Elsa had to do a lot of training to fit the part of a strong woman on the front lines of an attack.

Curious to know exactly what she had to do to get in such great shape for her role? Read on for all the details.

She trained for four months prior to filming.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Elsa revealed that as soon as she read the script, she knew she wanted to "get into that physicality that these military women [go through]." Her number one goal was to build muscle. And considering all the training that she had to do prior to filming, I think it's safe to say she totally achieved her goal.

"We were probably working out every day for like an hour and a half, and then we started to prepare for the movie," Elsa told ET. "We started just getting into all those fights, which is like three hours a day, four months before the movie. We were, like, every day learning all those movies. It's like this choreography that you have to go through."

She revealed to People that she had to do boot camp-style workouts that included carrying weight up hills. And when it came time to do those stunt scenes, it often resulted in "bruises everywhere," she said. "My body was hurting so much."

Husband Chris Hemsworth was her exercise buddy.

ICYDK, Chris Hemsworth and Elsa have been married for more than ten years now. He also happens to be a producer on Interceptor, which means he was giving a lot of behind-the-scenes advice to Elsa throughout filming. And according to Elsa, things got pretty competitive.

"He was there to just [offer] all kinds of advice. Of course, he's a professional action movie star. So it was great to have him holding my hand," she told People. "He knows exactly how to throw a punch."

Even so, both of these action-loving actors have their moments from time to time. "We're very competitive. [I was like] 'Okay, I know what I'm doing.' But in this case, he knows more," she added.

Elsa loves to mix up her workouts.

Although she had to change up her fitness routine to play Captain Collins, working out has always been a big part of Elsa's life.

In 2019, she told Women's Health UK that she can't go more than 2 weeks without exercise, noting that she can feel her energy start to go down. Elsa is up for a bunch of different forms of exercise including boxing, swimming, yoga, and high-intensity interval training.

Plus, she's all about building her core muscles and told Body and Soul that she has always looked up to Olympic runners and gymnasts. "So I just wanted to have a body like that. And I liked sports... and so then I started training and my goal was to have abs!" she said.
