Ladies and gentlemen, for the next instalment of Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg, prepare to watch the two billionaire social media giants participate in a cage match. Yep, you heard it right the first time. Apparently, the owner and CTO of Twitter has declared that the showdown between the two is actually going to happen.

ICYMI, back in June, the Tesla CEO stated he was "up for a cage match" with the Facebook boss, to which he responded with: "Send me the location." Oh, how apt.

Elon then suggested that the two - who are in direct competition with each other following the launch of Threads - meet at the Vegas Octagon. Which, for those who don't know, is a major arena in Nevada, US, for UFC and championship mixed martial arts fights.

Naturally, fans thought this invitation bizarre due to the fact that Mark is a trained MMA fighter and has actually won awards for fighting. Not to mention that pro fighter Conor McGregor even once branded him as "f***ing awesome."

But it seems that Elon has taken all this in his stride, as he took to Twitter on 6 August to seemingly confirm the fight again, sharing a post labelling the event as "Zuck vs Musk."

"Zuck v Musk fight will be live-streamed on X. (FYI, Elon changed Twitter's name to X.) All proceeds will go to charity for veterans," he tweeted, with no further information.

The vague post followed Elon's earlier message to his 152 million followers, which revealed he's actually been training for the big showdown.

"Am lifting weights throughout the day, preparing for the fight. Don’t have time to work out, so I just bring them to work," he penned.

The Threads developer then replied with: "I'm ready today... but he hasn't confirmed," as well as sharing that he's "not holding his breath."

OK, whether this is all one big joke or it's the full-on truth is *very* hard to determine right now. All we can really say is what is going on?

Cosmopolitan UK has contacted Meta and Twitter for comment with Meta responding to info about the fight with: "Nothing to add what’s beyond what’s online at the moment."
