Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have been teasing a long-awaited cage match for months now, with the two tech billionaires making plans to face off while the world watches. They've even floated the Colosseum in Rome as a possible venue for the fight. But while it's looking less and less likely that they'll actually step into the ring, the war of words between them continues.

On Aug. 13, Zuckerberg took to his Threads account to share an update on where the fight stands. "I think we can all agree Elon isn't serious and it's time to move on," the Meta CEO wrote. "I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead."

"If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on," he concluded. "I'm going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously."

It didn't take Musk long to respond. "Zuck is a chicken," the business magnate wrote on X. In another post, he teased, "[Zuckerberg] can’t eat at Chic-fil-A [sic] because that would be cannibalism."

While Musk has been busy with replacing Twitter with the new X brand, Zuckerberg has been spending his free time in the octagon training with UFC fighters and dedicating himself to jiu-jitsu and MMA. The Tesla CEO told Zuckerberg that his training might come in handy, despite Zuck being smaller than him. "While I think it is very unlikely, given our size difference, perhaps you are a modern day Bruce Lee and will somehow win," Musk said.

For now, it looks like we have more words than action to look forward to.
