It's been nearly three years since Euphoria first premiered, and the highly-anticipated second season of HBO's hit series has finally kicked off. While we get to see our favorite characters like Jules, Rue, Kat, Maddy, and Cassie back in action at East Highland High, we also are introduced to new drama and characters, including Elliot.

In the official trailer for season 2, we caught a glimpse of Rue's new friend — or, perhaps, something more, as Jules seemed pretty jealous in the clip. He's also seen running from the cops with Rue and playing guitar with Jules. So, who is this new mystery character introduced in the latest season of the hit show? Here's everything we know about Elliot from Euphoria season 2.

Who is Elliot?

Per Variety, Elliot has been described as Rue and Jules' "homie" who hangs out with the duo frequently.

In the show's trailer for season 2, it seems like Elliot takes part in Rue's relapse. "You're my new favorite person," she says, placing a pill in her mouth. In another clip, he's driving recklessly with Jules in the passenger seat. There's no telling what they're running from or if they're running from anything, but the rest of the season will be sure to unpack that for viewers.

He's played by musician Dominic Fike

Elliot is brought to life by none other than Dominic Fike, a 25-year-old musician from Naples, Florida. According to Complex, he first made it onto the music scene in the late 2010s when he dropped some songs on SoundCloud. Since then, he signed to Columbia Records and collaborated with A-listers like Halsey, Brockhampton's Kevin Abstract, Justin Bieber, and Sir Paul McCartney. Some of Dominic's most popular songs include "3 Nights," "Chicken Tenders," and "Vampire."

There are parallels between the role and Dominic's personal life

"I don't have to do much acting," Dominic said of his "degenerate" character in an August 2021 interview with Variety. "He's exactly like me. It's sh-t I would say and sh-t I would do."

In a 2019 interview with Complex, he opened up about how drugs — a heavy subject that Euphoria taps into via Zendaya's character, Rue — affected his adolescence. He explained that his parents were absent as his mom had been in and out of jail and that he had used drugs when he was in high school. He described his experience living with a woman who had also been using drugs as his guardian.

"When my mom was sending money for me to get sh-t for school, she'd spend it on drugs, and I didn't know," he told the outlet. "I knew that drugs f--ked people up, but I just didn't connect it because the people I'd been around my whole life were always on drugs."

Dominic's role on Euphoria seems to hit close to his personal story, and his latest Variety interview about his role on the HBO series reports that he is currently sober and seeking out other acting roles.
