Ellie Goulding’s Wedding Weekend Included 4 Outfit Changes

One wedding dress wasn’t enough for Ellie Goulding. On August 31, the singer married longtime boyfriend Caspar Jopling in a regal, star-studded ceremony in York, England. But among the pomp and circumstance surrounding the traditional British nuptials, it was her bridal fashion that stood out. The star wore not one, but four wedding gowns throughout the day.

Goulding first wore a bespoke Chloé dress for the ceremony at York Minster. The Victorian-inspired silk gown, which took 640 hours to make, featured a high neckline and long sleeves that were embellished with the White Rose of York symbols. The bride’s veil was made of silk tulle and organza, and featured a sweet nod to her fiancé: their initials were embroidered within the fabric.

When speaking to British Vogue before her wedding, Goulding shared that she wanted to channel some of the most iconic bridal looks on her wedding day. “I’ve always loved timeless bridal looks, from Princess Anne and Bianca Jagger to the Princess of Monaco [Grace Kelly], and I wanted to bring together modern and traditional elements,” she said.

After the ceremony, the singer changed into another gown that was seemingly inspired by another royal: Meghan Markle.

Goulding’s second wedding dress was a slim-fitted, off-the-shoulder design by Stella McCartney. Fans were quick to point out the similarity to Markle’s reception gown, which was also a form-fitting Stella McCartney creation.

The bride took to her Instagram Story to share a glimpse of her second outfit while posing with her husband, writing, “me and my man.”

Once the reception began, Hello! Magazine reports that Goulding wore two more dresses before the night came to a close. Her third gown, a Ralph & Russo design, featured a fitted skirt with a pearl beaded top, which she accessorized with an embellished headband.

Finally, she closed out the night with a Balmain mini dress that featured a low v-neck cutout and statement sleeves.

“I’ve been lucky enough to work closely with some of my all-time favourite designers,” she told British Vogue. “I was excited to do something a bit different after the ceremony itself… I can’t thank the designers and houses enough for being a part of the day.”

Goulding’s wedding to Jopling, an art dealer, comes just one year after the couple announced their engagement. “You’re the most wonderful person I’ve ever known, and I can’t wait to be your very giggly, in awe and loved up wife,” Goulding said of her fiancé.
