Ellen DeGeneres Apologized to Staffers Amid Workplace Misconduct Allegations

Ellen DeGeneres has apologized to staffers and fired three producers on her show as it continues to be investigated amid workplace misconduct allegations, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
THR reports that Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman have parted ways with The Ellen DeGeneres Show as WarnerMedia continues to investigate the daytime show. The outlet also obtained comments DeGeneres made to staff during a Zoom call about the changes, during which she reportedly apologized about the press coverage of their workplace, and discussed being an introverted personality that likes to have her own space, which may have led to staffers believing she wasn't nice.
"I’m a multi-layered person, and I try to be the best person I can be and try to learn from my mistakes," she said.
She also reiterated, "I care about each and every one of you. I am grateful for each and every one of you. I feel like I’ve kind of let the ball drop a bit because I’m focused on the show, I go in and I do the show, and I’ve just let everybody to do their jobs – to run different departments. And it just became a well-oiled machine, and I think that is the problem."
"It’s not a machine," she added. "This is people. These are human beings that are working hard every single day to put this together. This show would not be what it is without all of you."
Ed Glavin was named in a story published on BuzzFeed in July, in which former and current staffers alleged a toxic culture at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and in a separate Buzzfeed story published on July 30, dozens of former employees alleged that Glavin, head writer and executive producer Kevin Leman, and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman had engaged in sexual misconduct with employees or in the workplace.

DeGeneres addressed the claims in a letter to staff, writing, "As we've grown exponentially, I've not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I'd want them done. Clearly some didn't. That will now change and I'm committed to ensuring this does not happen again."
