Elle King Postpones Concert Following Backlash for Dolly Parton ‘Disrespect’

A scheduled Elle King concert has been postponed just days after the country star drew criticism for her behavior during a Dolly Parton tribute night at the Grand Ole Opry.
King, 34, was set to perform at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday, Jan. 26. But midday on Wednesday, the venue announced on social media that the King concert has been rescheduled. The concert will instead take place several months from now, on Sept. 21.
The venue didn’t specify why the concert date was moved, but many people have speculated online that King’s Grand Ole Opry appearance may have played a role in the decision.

King was one of several artists who performed at the “Opry Goes Dolly” event held on Jan. 19 in celebration of the Grammy Award winner’s 78th birthday. The “Jolene” singer was not present to witness the events that unfolded.
Concertgoers could tell right away that things were off when King took the stage, with the “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer telling the crowd that she was “hammered.” She went on to warn the crowd that she likely wouldn’t remember the lyrics to Parton’s song, “Marry Me,” a prediction that proved true.
Many fans expressed their outrage on social media after the show as videos of King’s performance spread on TikTok. Some called for the famed Nashville venue to never invite King back, while others said she had “disrespected” Parton.
“The grand ole Opry is a place of honor and she totally disrespected it and Dolly Parton,” one TikToker commented in response to a clip from the show that Country Minute shared on the platform.
Another said it is “a known thing you NEVER cuss or be any kind of disrespectful at the grand ole opry.”
“There’s 2 things you never do drunk or sober Disrespect the sweet Dolly Parton the Queen of Music and the Grand Ole Opry,” another TikToker wrote.
The Grand Ole Opry later tweeted an apology for “the language that was used” in response to one fan who expressed frustration with King’s performance on X.
