Elle Fanning’s 2024 Golden Globes Look Is Worthy of Her The Great Character

Elle the Great is back on the red carpet!

Elle Fanning never disappoints with her red-carpet looks, and the 2024 Golden Globes is no exception. Nominated for best actress in a musical or comedy for her role as Catherine the Great in The Great, Fanning hit the red carpet wearing a look fit for a queen.

She dipped into the fashion archives for the occasion, wearing a vintage off-white strapless Pierre Balmain ballgown with a large bow across the bodice. Matching pointed-toe pumps, Cartier jewelry, and a sleek updo and soft makeup (courtesy of L'Oréal Paris) completed the look.

This year marks the third time Fanning has been nominated for a Golden Globe after earning nods in 2021 and 2022 for the same role. However, this is the first time she’s actually attended the show; in 2021 it was held remotely due to the pandemic, and in 2022 it was not telecast after backlash against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

That being said, it’s not the first time she’s looked perfect for the show. There may not have been an IRL red carpet, but there was one on Instagram. For the occasion, Fanning showed off an an ice-blue Old Hollywood–inspired satin gown by Gucci by Alessandro Michele, accented with Fred Leighton jewelry.

The Great was cancelled in August, so this time around it was especially important for Fanning to attend. In fact, she took the day off from her Broadway play, Appropriate, to travel to LA.

Appropriate marks Elle Fanning’s Broadway debut. In December she and sister Dakota celebrated the opening night together, where they wore coordinating outfits.
