Elle Fanning Looks Like a Princess in This Ruffled Black Vintage Dress

Elle Fanning looked impossibly chic while celebrating Cartier in Italy last night.

The star of The Great was among the guests at the presentation of the brand's "Le Voyage Recommencé" high jewelry collection in Florence, which took place in a beautiful garden overlooking the city.

For the glamorous evening, the actress wore a black dress from Oscar de la Renta's spring 1993 collection (sourced from Shrimpton Couture). The piece includes dainty spaghetti straps, a ruched top, and a big ruffled layer skirt. It is embellished with a white rose appliqué at the waist.

Styled by Samantha McMillen, Fanning wore the LBD with a black choker with a diamond flower by Cartier. Her hair was styled in a sophisticated, dramatic updo, and she wore inky black cat-eye liner.

At the event, Fanning spoke to Harper's Bazaar Singapore about her look, and gave a pose for the camera. "We're at the beautiful Cartier event in Italy and I'm wearing a diamond flower," she said with a smile.

Fanning's stunning look in Italy comes after her elegant style streak at the Cannes Film Festival, in France. Last Thursday, she stepped out on the Cannes red carpet in a bold statement dress from Paco Rabanne’s fall/winter 2023 ready-to-wear collection. The incredible metallic piece was completely covered in glimmering silver, feather-shaped fringe. Plus, the bustier featured ornate metalwork in the form of a circular choker holding up a metallic floral adornment, as well as matching metallic floral pasties.

Days earlier, for the premier film festival’s opening night, Fanning wore a custom-made Alexander McQueen ball gown which included an intricately beaded bodice designed in the shape of orchids, and a voluminous blush-pink skirt embroidered with even more silver beads.
