Elizabeth Olsen is a woman who knows what she likes. At least, that’s what her best red carpet looks and style evolution seem to indicate. Throughout her career, Olsen has developed a signature red carpet aesthetic you can spot from a mile away. Whether she’s attending an international film festival or jetting halfway around the world for a movie premiere, Olsen rarely deviates from her red carpet “big three”: V-neck gowns, gorgeously tailored suits, and opulent minidresses.

Of course, the WandaVision star does mix things up from time to time. She’ll occasionally step out in a floor-length gown with a slightly elevated neckline or an open back, or swap out a thigh-skimming mini in favor of a matching set. The actor and her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, often play with proportion when it comes to suiting and mix luxe embellishments into Olsen's go-to color palette — more on that later — but even so, this A-lister's fashion opus is one of the most consistent in Hollywood.

The backbone of Olsen’s consistent red carpet aesthetic is a handful of elite designers — the Avengers of the red carpet if you will. Time and again, the MCU's Scarlet Witch appears in Givenchy, Alexandre Vauthier, Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Miu Miu, and The Row (conveniently designed by her very own sisters, Ashley and Mary-Kate). Along with her favorite luxury labels and silhouettes, she shows a clear color palette preference, often choosing ivory or black. When she’s not living her best monochromatic life, she dabbles in rich jewel tones and occasionally peppers in pastels.

We could wax poetic on the clearly defined — and regularly refined — look that makes Olsen such an understated red carpet icon, but instead, we’ve rounded up her 18 most iconic looks so you can see it for yourself.

Olsen loves a suit, but she's rarely spotted in a traditional one. You're more likely to see this celeb in something unique like the vintage Armani Privé suit she wore to the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness than a basic black tuxedo.

We know what you're thinking and no, it's not up for discussion. The burgundy velvet number Olsen is 100% a jumpsuit and not a gown, but that doesn't mean the custom look doesn't meet all of the star's red-carpet gown requirements. Designed by Giorgio Armani and accented with Cartier jewels, this iconic look serves everything we love about Olsen's red carpet style.

Relationships between sisters can be complicated, but having two older sisters who also happen to be founders of a luxury fashion label can come in handy when you're dressing for your first Emmy nomination, as Olsen was in 2021. For the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, Olsen tapped her sisters' label, The Row, to create the V-neck gown with dramatic sleeves and a cinched waist.

"Elizabeth wanted to work with her sisters at The Row because who better to understand what is important to her and what will make her feel her best," Stewart, Olsen's stylist, previously told InStyle of the look. This gown definitely delivers on all of Olsen's favorite red carpet elements, from the neckline to the color. Suffice it to say, her sisters know her well.

We're choosing to file this velvet Miu Miu matching set in our mental folder of Olsen's most iconic minidress moments (even though it's technically not one). In fact, if we didn't know for certain that the 'fit the Avengers star wore to the MTV Movie Awards was definitely a jacket and skirt set, we'd have assumed it was. The velvet jacket and matching A-line skirt weren't just seamless, they were seamlessly accessorized with a pair of crystal-heeled Sophia Webster satin pumps and dazzling Van Cleef & Arpels emerald earrings.

Olsen seems to favor minidresses, velvet, and Alexandre Vauthier, so we expect she loved the look she wore to the 24th annual Critics' Choice Awards as much as we do. Sleekly accessorized with stiletto pumps and a satin clutch, both designed by Christian Louboutin, Olsen looked confident and powerful.

When Olsen does deviate from her three main red carpet looks, she doesn't go far. The black A.L.C. jumpsuit she wore to the premiere of Sorry for Your Loss at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018 had all the vibes of a slouchy, well-tailored tuxedo.

Despite sticking to relatively subtle red carpet looks, Olsen knows how to bring the va-va-voom when she wants, as she did at the European premiere of Captain America: Civil War in a stunning Alexander Mcqueen gown. Rather than a plunging V-neck, Olsen opted for an equally provocative keyhole neckline, amping up the sultriness with a strategically placed pendant necklace.

Allusion to creepy parasocial fixation aside, the fashion faceoff was adorable.
