Elizabeth Olsen Calls Out Empire Magazine for Poorly Photoshopped Cover

Game, set, Olsen.

And with four simple words, Scarlet Witch has marked her territory.

In preparation for the upcoming Avengers film, Empire magazine released several covers earlier this week, featuring a plethora of superheroes. Included in the bunch was Elizabeth Olsen's witchy character, Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange, Danai Gurira's Okoye from Black Panther, and Dave Bautista's Drax.

Immediately after the covers were released, fans were quick to point out that Olsen didn't really look like herself — or even her Marvel character, for that matter. In the image, her skin tone is far deeper than its natural glow, and her cheekbones are contoured to an extreme state. Her hair, too, looks brassy — a major change from its natural blonde hue. It could appear to be a classic case of a Photoshop attempt gone wrong, and Olsen was more than happy to call it out on her Instagram.

"April 27th ... Does this look like me?" she joked. "#scarletwitch #infinitywar #avengers." Her followers were also quick to accuse the magazine of Photoshopping, and not without a few quips of their own.

"To be fair Doctor Strange looks like Benedict Cumberbatch's better looking twin," one commenter teased. "I had to look through all the cover photos to find you, looks like Empire used someone else as you," another posited. A third added, "WHO IS THIS IMPOSTER POSING AS YOU?!?!"

Empire magazine has not responded to requests for comment on the cover.

Of course, magazines caving to Photoshop urges is nothing new. For instance, just a few months ago Emily Ratajkowski accused a French women's magazine of Photoshopping her lips and breasts for the cover photo. "I hope the fashion industry will finally learn to stop trying to stifle the things that make us unique and instead begin to celebrate individuality," she wrote.

Other celebrities, such as Zendaya, have flat-out refused to ever work on a shoot if Photoshop is involved. Take note, magazines: These women are watching.
