Elizabeth’s Crayons to host coloring book giveaway to benefit families around Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The founder of Elizabeth’s Crayons, a coloring book drive, is bringing coloring back to Mobile — but this time on a much bigger scale.

WKRG News 5 previously covered Malcom Thaddeus Banks Jr, a local podcast star who used his microphone to bring coloring books to patients at USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital, back in 2021 after seeing how his late mother, Angeline Elizabeth Jones, benefitted from coloring in her final moments.

He said this year he hopes to bring the event on “a broader scale.”

The drive, according to a press release shared by Banks Jr., will start on May 1 and go through May 31. At the end of the event will be a field day, scheduled for June 8, at Stewart Memorial C.M.E Church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will be held so parents can bring their kids to get books and coloring utensils and receive a variety of resources.

“Our goal this year is to collect over 1500 books so that everyone may benefit a great deal from this endeavor,” the release shared.

Those who would like to participate in the drive can email elizabethcrayons@gmail.com or call Malcolm Banks at 251-381-8550.
