Elegant occasion hairstyles for short hair
Styling short hair isn't easy and often gets forgotten when it comes to styling advice. A recent spike in short hairstyles has forced salons and stylists to conjure up new, easy ways to style short length hair for all occasions. "Shorter hair is becoming increasingly popular but most styling menus only cater for women who have long locks, which is where my inspiration came from for these styles," says Redken Hair Ambassador Jonathan Long. "If you have short hair, I recommend using your ears and parting as your accessory," advises Long. These looks aim to flatter an array of face shapes, making them customisable to every woman and occasion.
The Supermodel Sweep
This look is great for those who have short to mid-length hair. Inspired by Versace and the late 90's supermodels, this is a classic style reinvented. It suits most hair types and can be a great twist if you like wearing your hair down. If you have fine hair, it's important to use the right styling product as if you use too much or too little you won't get a pretty soft wave effect. "I used Redken Windblown, £16.30 to create the texture in the hair and blow-dried and finished with Redken Triple Take, £13," says Long. It holds the hair, provides shine and doesn’t leave the hair crunchy. I love the idea of exposing one ear with a statement earring for a sophisticated finish.

Summer Slick
"This is a look I think most women find really hard to achieve at home but it's actually super easy if you have a good styling technique and use the right product," says Long. What makes this look standout is the dual texture. You want the top to look wet but not like you've just got out the shower wet. Keep the ends drier but still shape them into a neat arrangement just above your shoulders or if you have shorter hair, at the nape of your neck.
