Electric Motorcycle Rider Thinks He's Allowed In The Bike Lane

Surrons are electric motorcycles that have become popular in the last few years. One of the issues with them has been access.

Though they can go up to 70 mph, many people call them e-bikes, mainly because of their silence and similar components.

Watch one rider explain his rationale for taking his Surron in the bike lane.

A Surron is an electric dirt bike. Though some people call them e-bikes, they are distinct and not recognized by law as electric bikes, mostly because they have no speed governor. See the helpful diagram below.

In this video, Logan explains in a POV why he feels he can take the Surron into the bike lane. He says that in a spot where there are no bikers around, it is safer for him to be in the bike lane. In Washington State, where this was filmed, it is illegal to do so.

While that is technically true, when you ride a vehicle that goes that quickly, you can come up on a bike suddenly and without warning. He says it is not safe to ride on the road with the flow of traffic as it is.

That sounds to me like a problem with Surrons coming without enough safety features. He should make his motorcycle road legal rather than taking it in the bike lane.

One funny part about this video is that he blatantly runs a red light in the bike lane. Like there is no attempt to worry about following the rules of the road.

At the very least, he does his wheelies when he is in the flow of traffic! Thank god for small victories.
