Eldora Mountain, CO, Extends Season, Will Be Longest Season Ever

Skiers, don't hang up the boards quite yet. Another ski resort has joined the season extension party.

This past weekend, Eldora Mountain Resort, Colorado, announced plans to extend its season until April 21st—weather and conditions permitting—due in part to recent heavy snowfall.

The updated closing day will result in Eldora's longest season on record. Initially, the resort planned to close on April 14th

"We're thrilled to offer amazing skiing and riding conditions to our guests for one more week than we had originally planned," says Brent Tregaskis, Eldora's president and general manager. "March really treated us well in terms of snowfall and we want to keep sharing the bounty."

In March, Eldora saw nearly seven feet of new snow, enjoying frequent Coloradan storms that sometimes proved difficult to manage. During one storm, the resort was forced to temporarily close after several feet of snow fell.

The upshot, of course, is that Eldora fans can look ahead to an additional week of lift-accessed skiing.

During the week of April 15th through April 21st, Eldora plans to run with three lifts: Sundance, Alpenglow, and Corona. Limited food and beverage options will be available at Timbers Café, Timbers Tap House, and the Lookout Lodge.

The resort says the closing weekend—April 20th and 21st—is set to be a party "with live music, events, and more." Details about the final weekend of skiing at Eldora are forthcoming.
