The "rule" that you can't wear white after Labor Day is not a thing. Who's saying so? Us, the editors of GoodHousekeeping.com, who love rocking white jeans with cozy fall sweaters just as much as white jeans with a breezy summer top. Only one problem persists: What underwear can you wear with white jeans? White? Baby blue? Pastel pink?

The answer is simple: GO NUDE. Nude underwear blends into your skin tone — i.e. it becomes invisible. But all nude panties are not created equal. We asked four brave editors to wear nude underwear from the most popular undergarment brands with their favorite white jeans. Here are the ones that stood out (without, um, stealing the spotlight):

Full Coverage: Wacoal High-Cut Briefs

This pair was deemed most comfortable by all. They're high-waisted but sit at your natural waistline, so our editors escaped the horror of an underwear sunrise above their jeans. One disclaimer: The panty-line is thicker than most, so it may show through sheerer fabrics.

Thong: Commando Better Than Nothing

GoodHousekeeping.com's Trends and Reviews Editor Lindsey Murray has yet to find a thong that she thinks is as comfortable as briefs, but Commando's nude option comes pretty close. It's totally seamless, so you don't have to worry about bunching. Just note that the fabric is very lightweight, so it may feel a little, ahem, breezy under dresses.

Cheeky: Victoria Secret No Show Cheeky Panty

If you're anti-thong, this underwear is elastic-free and offers extra coverage. The laser-cut edges didn't show up under even the sheerest fabric. Victoria's Secret offers four different shades of nude, but some editors still had a tough time finding a good match.

Best Overall: ThirdLove Seamless Bikini

All four editors named this pair their favorite. The fabric is comfy and seamless, so panty lines are literally out of sight, out of mind. Even better, ThirdLove offers five nude shades ranging from pale to dark, more than any company we could find. RedbookMag.com's editorial fellow Alexis Jones says the dark was an almost perfect match (but wouldn't be against a sixth option!).
