Viral beauty products come and go, but the Dyson Airwrap is forever. The hair styler revolutionized at-home blowouts and has truly changed the game for what consumers can expect in their hot tools — if it can't result in salon-quality locks, we don't want it! While the iconic styler hits many of the right notes, the price tag is a bit of a sour spot for consumers who don't want to spend hundreds ($600, to be exact) on a styler. Lucky for us on a budget, other brands have come up with their own similar hot tools that get the job done just as well, perhaps even better. If you're in the market for a good ol' Dyson Airwrap dupe in 2024, we studied, tested, and critiqued dozens of models to find the best. And boy did we uncover some greatness.

What to Consider

Timing

Hot brushes and multi-tool stylers are all about saving you time, but how much time do you really have every day to get the job done? Will you be using your Dyson Airwrap dupe in a rush during busy mornings, or do you plan to pull it out getting ready for after-work activities like dates and nights out with friends? There are stellar options that work like magic in just a few minutes (like the beloved Revlon One-Step), or there are some other goodies that make take up more time, while still resulting in a salon-quality style (like the TK).

Setting

How much space do you have in your bathroom or throughout your vanity area to give yourself a DIY blowout? If you're working in tight quarters, buying an all-in-one brush should be your play. You won't have to jumble up several tool heads in your space. If you've got some major real estate, get yourself a hot tool that has all the attachments you could want. These will come in handy when you're ready to switch-up styles throughout the week.

Price

While these blowout tools are considered Dyson Airwrap dupes because they ring in a lot cheaper, some of them can still cost a few hundred bucks. Consider whether you want to make a long-term investment or find a quick-fix that'll work for a year or two before you look into Klarna-ing a hot tool. After all, there are some great budget picks like the TK that come in for under $100.

Experience

Blowout brushes and stylers get the rep of being simple to use, but in some cases, the opposite is true. There's a major learning curve for a few of these stylers, specifically the Shark multi-tool and the TK. If you would rather not spend a couple of tries learning a new styling method, a straightforward blowout brush is the one for you.

Hair Length

If you've got long and lush locks, you're going to want to find something with a thicker barrel or an attachment for longer hair. If not, you'll be stuck going over the same section at least a half-dozen times, which is not fun. Especially when you're already late for whatever you have on the calendar. If you have short hair, you'll want to make sure the brush or barrel isn't so thick that your locks won't fit over it.

How We Chose

Over the years, our editors have tested dozens of hair stylers on their own. I myself called in a dozen more of these hot tools to ensure our evaluation included as many models as possible. Once in hand, we tested these on wet hair, damp hair, and dry hair. We went so far as trying these all out on hair with and without heat protectant and smoothing creams to see which devices would make our locks fry and frizz — because we know that sometimes (most of the time) forgetting protectant is a reality.

With that, we give you: the best Dyson Airwrap dupes of 2024.

What to Consider

The Original

First, we need to consider what about the original Dyson AirWrap that makes it just... well, worth $600. The innovative styler comes with seven accessories (two curling rods, one flyaway smoother, a flat brush, a round brush, a diffuser, and a comb), a carrying case, and revolutionary technology crafted to ensure minimal hair damage.

The styler uses the power of Coanda airflow (a stream of air that ensures strands wrap around the curling rod) to form salon-crafted curls at home. Unlike the Shark FlexStyle, the curling rods don’t come with arrows printed on them, so I’ve found that it takes a little bit of trial and error each use to figure out which way my hair will flow. That said, the device makes long-lasting curls in the blink of an eye. The process from wet to fully dried and styled hair only takes about 15 minutes for my fine locks. Also, having many attachments means that pretty much everyone can use this styler, no matter their hair type — and that’s always a win.

Hair Length and Texture

If you’ve got long and lush locks, you’re going to want to find something with a thicker barrel or an attachment for longer hair. If not, you’ll be stuck going over the same section at least a half-dozen times, which is not fun. Especially when you’re already late for whatever you have on the calendar. If you have short hair, you’ll want to make sure the brush or barrel isn’t so thick that your locks won’t curl over it.

Also, some of these hot tools won’t do curly or Black hair justice. Make sure you check out the heat settings for these brushes to ensure they can straighten your hair to your liking, and we also recommend reading through customer reviews to ensure somebody with similar hair length and texture has given it their blessing.

How We Chose

Over the years, our editors have tested dozens of hair stylers on their own. I called in a dozen more of these hot tools to ensure our evaluation included as many models as possible. Once in hand, we tested these on wet hair, damp hair, and dry hair. We went so far as trying these all out on hair with and without heat protectant and smoothing creams to see which devices would make our locks fry and frizz — because we know that sometimes (most of the time) forgetting protectant is a reality. FlexStyle

I’ve been a fan of Shark’s FlexStyle since the day it came out in 2022; everything about it, from the sleek silver design to the stellar attachments, wowed me. Essentially, it came with all of the fixins of a Dyson AirWrap but cost about 50% less (right now it’s even cheaper thanks to a fab Amazon sale).

The FlexStyle comes with five attachments: two brushes, two curl wands (one for wrapping the hair to the left and the other for wrapping the hair to the right), and a flat blow-drying tool. As mentioned, the wands have arrows that point in the direction your hair will flow, which is a heaven-sent addition for those moments when you have to do your hair in three minutes. They can create a Farrah Fawcett style that holds — with the help of hair spray — all day long but can also produce some loose waves, depending on how long you keep your hair on the hot rods. The longer you hold, the tighter the curl.

When it comes to the brush attachments, I’ve found the round brush to be my favorite: It can both curl and straighten my fine locks with ease, depending on how much I move my wrist around. It’s gentle on my hair even when I pull a little too hard, and its small bristles capture all of my strands, even if they’re trying to fly away from my head. When I do reach for the flat brush, it’s to tame annoying flyaways post-curl session.

This styler has hot and cold air options as well as two speed choices, so you can really personalize each use. I find that I opt for the cold setting to lock in my curls and use the lower speed when styling.

With this device, you can easily style wet hair without doing a base dry, but I’ve found my blowouts to look the best when I put in some air-drying or blow-drying time first.

I’m not the only editor on staff who adores this tool. Cat Bowen, a senior editor with 3a-3b curls says “It’s simple to use, gets even my roots straight, and when I am in the mood for maximum volume? It is so much easier to achieve.” Our other senior editor, Eunice Lucero-Lee, went so far as saying “It’s replaced my Dyson.” Boom.

One-Step Volumizer

If I had to recommend one Dyson AirWrap dupe to anyone, it would be the Revlon One-Step. The reason? The volumizing dry brush comes in at an extremely affordable price (it’s usually on sale for under $40) and is so simple to use.

The three speed and heat settings allow for a very fast drying and styling time, but I’ve found that if I don’t use a heat protectant or add in some extra hydrating oils, my hair can look dry post-styling.

The thick 2.8-inch barrel size is great for adding volume to locks that tend to fall flat, but I’d caution anybody with hair above their chin since they might not be able to get in a full curl with this larger brush.

Up in the Air Volumizing Brush

If you’re looking for a no-frills effective dryer brush, look no further. The Hairitage volumizing brush has just two heat and speed settings for drying. The nearly 3-inch barrel shape is great for creating volume at the root, and curls at the end. I wouldn’t recommend this brush for smoothing flyaways, but it can straighten hair rather well.

As the brand recommends, I’ve found it best to dry my hair a good amount before using the brush. Without this step, it takes about double the time to craft my locks into the style I actually want.

Also of note: The brand says the brush is suitable for hair types 1A-4C.

SmoothStyle

I don’t know what it is about Shark, but they are on it when it comes to hair stylers. You might notice that this model has a bright pink section in the middle: That’s actually a specifically designed smoother that — you guessed it — ensures your hair remains smooth and frizz-free without styling. This feature has been a true game-changer for me because I always experience flyaways coming to life when I use a heated brush. With this one, however, it’s literally smooth sailing.

I’d recommend this hot brush for anybody like me, who has damaged hair from heated products or coloring because it hides our breakage like it’s buried treasure. When I use this brush, my blowout lasts for days, only needing some retouching after the third.

One innovative addition is this brush’s wet and dry modes. The wet-to-dry option works just like a typical styler on this page would, while the dry option is all about tamping down frizz post-styling. I turn this mode on as my last step and pull my hair at the root to create major volume in seconds.

What’s more, the 3-inch barrel size makes for larger, fuller curls that have that professional look that Dyson’s AirWrap is known for creating.

AireBrush Duo

Similar to the AirWrap, this brush comes with multiple heads. T3’s AireBrush Duo has a straightening flat brush as well as a curling round style like typical blowout stylers.

This brush is jam-packed with features, including five heat settings and three speed settings, which is a dream for advanced users, but could be hard for newbies to figure out. With my fine hair, I typically use a medium heat and full speed combination to get the curls I like. I reach for the round brush the most, but the flat head comes in handy when I need to smooth my hair near the roots.

And, for those keeping track, this brush has more heat and speed combinations than the Dyson or any other brush on this list, so consider that a win.

Curl Secret Automatic Curling Iron

This curling brush reminded me of the infomercials that used to play in between episodes of Full House. So, of course, I was skeptical. It uses heat to style your hair but comes with a case around the rod to ensure that each section of your locks remains divided.

The hardest part about using this iron was actually getting chunks of my hair to stick in it, but once this was all set up, the curls it created were surprisingly impressive: They were tighter than other hot tools on this list, but fell to a nice beachy wave after a few hours and some brushing out. While it worked well on my fine hair, I don’t see this being a feasible styler for people with curly or coily strands.

The Half Shot Round Blow-Dryer Brush

If you’ve been to a Drybar, you know just how life-changing their blowouts can be. I’ve gone to their locations in the city for everything from weddings to girls’ nights to random Wednesdays when I just need a pick-me-up. This brush is meant to give you the blowout you love at home and it does a good job at that.

The brush works just as all the others do: You plug it in, flip a switch, and work it through your hair. However, I found the lighter weight and slimmer size easier to work with (my hair runs just below my clavicle) and makes my arms less sore in the process. Don’t act like you've never had to take a break during your at-home styling sessions!

In addition to this benefit, the bristles throughout the brush do a stellar job controlling frizz, and ensuring all of my baby hairs are locked away. This creates a silky blowout that hardly requires any smoothing products.

My only major qualm is that this brush doesn’t come with more than one temperature option — meaning it might not be hot enough for users with thicker hair or might be too hot for people with thin hair.

Effortless Style 4-in-1 Blow-Dryer Brush

If you’ve got long, luscious locks, you’re going to want a blowout brush with a thicker circumference, like this one from Moroccanoil. The 3-inch barrel is among the largest we’ve tested and crafts gorgeous big curls. Not to mention, it can whip up some big volume at your roots.

To make sure my blowout was as bouncy as can be, I brought the brush to my scalp, turned it halfway with my hair locked in, and kept this position for a few seconds before moving lower down. Replicate this, and you’ll be shocked at how much fuller your style looks.

The three heat and speed settings are great for personalizing your blowout to your liking. I found that this brush didn’t get as hot as others, so I went all the way up in both heat and speed, a move that allowed my fine hair to be completely dry and styled in under 20 minutes.

Double Ceramic 3-in-1 Hot Air Brush

If you're looking for a blowout brush that comes with as many bells and whistles as possible — but remains affordable — this Conair model might be the one for you. The styler comes with three attachments, including a concentrator, a bristle brush head, and a thermal brush head. I didn't notice a major difference between the two round heads, but the bristle one could be utilized well when combined with gels or pomades.

The styler got very hot very fast, which wasn't the best for my fine hair, but I had a friend with 3C hair test it out after, and she loved it for its ability to precisely dry and press her hair post-wash.
