The Best Roku TVs for Streaming Your Favorites

If you’re after a reasonably priced smart TV with a user-friendly interface, a Roku TV might fit the bill. Streaming through Roku is built-in, rather than a separate streaming device, and all your apps are front and center on the home screen, with content accessible via voice command or straightforward search on the remote. Another huge plus is that Roku TVs are often much cheaper than most other comparable smart TVs.

For gamers or serious sports fans, a smart TV with a faster operating system is likely a better choice. Cinephiles who demand extremely high picture quality should also look elsewhere, or perhaps invest in an OLED TV. But if you’re a student on a budget, want a less-expensive extra TV for a guest room or home office, or simply don’t want to pay extra for bells and whistles you really won’t use, a Roku TV is well worth considering.

Ahead, we’ve rounded up the best Roku TVs we recommend, along with some expert advice on the most important things to mull over before investing.

The Best Roku TVs

What to Consider

A few TV manufacturers sell Roku-integrated models. While they lack the premium brand badging of big players like Sony or Samsung, they still deliver a strong image and great performance. Both TCL and Hisense have come into their own in recent years with good TVs at extremely affordable prices. However, this value for money usually comes with a tradeoff, and for many of these models, sound can lack bass and that all-important oomph. With this in mind, consider purchasing a soundbar to go with your new panel.

If you want to wow with screen size and quality, consider the 65-inch TCL Class 6. It features mini LED technology on a huge 4K screen, and its 120 Hertz refresh rate makes it ideal for high-resolution gaming.

Recently, Roku has entered into the market its Plus Series, a Roku-branded TV, and we’re impressed—it’s a solid model, featuring a QLED 4K screen offset by a tiny bezel. It gets our pick as the best overall, even if its ports are annoyingly tricky to access.

Size

To date, Roku TVs are available in a range of sizes, from 32-inch panels all the way up to 70 inches. Obviously, the bigger the better, but get one that’s appropriate for your room size. The distance between your couch and TV determines what size you need—generally, you can sit about five feet or more from any given 4K TV, though.

Screen Resolution

Screen resolution refers to the number of pixels that comprise your picture—the higher this number, the crisper the detail. We’d strongly recommend getting a 4K Roku TV if your budget allows, as 4K TVs are the current gold standard resolution. If not, 1080p offers fairly decent image quality. And while a few budget Roku TVs offer 720p resolution, we’d be hard-pressed to recommend these.

Display Technology

There’s a range of display TV technologies available, with their advantages and drawbacks. Most Roku TVs use either LEDs or QLEDs, which are among the cheapest panels that offer excellent brightness. For an example of cost, the Roku Plus Series is available for just $500 for its 55-inch model.

In 2023, Sharp became the first company to offer Roku TVs with OLED technology, but with an MSRP of $2,500 for its 65-inch version, they are significantly more expensive than other panels. Mini LEDs offer a “halfway house” to OLED performance for a more affordable price point—check out the TCL Class 6 Mini LED at $1,900.

Refresh Rate

Refers to how fast a TV can render new images. Many Roku TVs offer 60 Hz, which is typically fine for watching TV, but higher-priced models often feature 120 Hz, which can offer a smoother playing experience for gamers. Some TVs also feature Variable Refresh Rate (VVR), which automatically adjusts the rate for less lag and frame tearing. And while some 60 Hz TVs are VR-compatible, they aren’t as good at negating screen tearing as their 120 Hz equivalents.

How We Selected

We selected these TVs according to several key factors such as their value, screen quality, ease of use and additional features. We also stuck with brand-name manufacturers known for their solid reliability and build quality, and aimed to offer options across price points to suit a range of budgets. During our research, we leaned on previous experience writing about TVs to find the best Roku models worth buying, plus we consulted other expert sources to confirm our findings.

55-inch Class Plus Series QLED 4K Smart Roku TV

A 55-inch QLED TV with 4K resolution at under $500 is a bargain, and with built-in Roku functionality, it’s an absolute steal.

Roku’s first foray into integrated TVs with the Plus Series is impressive. They sport a clean design with the thinnest of bezels around the screen. They’re not short of features either, with Dolby Vision and HDR10 for cinephiles.

This model provides decent overall image quality for a mid-range price. It has a few notable additions for convenience too, like the ability to detect your voice and control your TV with no press-of-a-button required. And with its finder function, it also means no more rooting in your couch to find that pesky lost remote.

It’s almost the full package, though with no VRR and a refresh rate of 60Hz, gamers might want to look elsewhere.

32-inch Class 3-Series Full HD LED Smart Roku TV

If you need a smaller TV for your bedroom, kitchen or dorm room, consider this 32-inch panel from TCL, a manufacturer known for making affordable yet capable TVs. While the sound lacks refinement at higher volumes, this is a smart Roku TV with decent color and brightness and Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built-in. Gamers get a lot out of this model too, with a 120Hz refresh rate and low latency for buttery smooth gameplay.

Just bear in mind that for the price, you’re trading off 4K resolution for 1080p and a sub-$150 price tag.

65-inch Class 4k Ultra HD Roku Smart TV

The Philips 65-inch Roku TV is a decent offering from the Dutch electronics giant. It features HDR for richer colors and contrast levels. You can also download the Roku app to control the TV with your smartphone for the ultimate in ease of use and convenience. Plus, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple’s Siri are all preloaded.

While the picture quality is great out of the box, with crisp visuals and a wide array of color, sound from such a thin TV is never going to be stellar due to hardware limitations, and there’s a lack of bass from Philips’ unit. However, that’s nothing a soundbar can’t solve.

70-inch K LED Roku TV R6 Series

For a big room, you need a big TV, and it doesn’t get much bigger than this 70-inch Hisense panel. It’s an LED screen running HDR, which delivers a superbly bright picture. Bigger brand TVs might have it beat on picture quality and advanced features, but for the price, the Hisense R6 is a capable panel with a wide color gamut and a decent picture.

It’s a great looking TV too, with its black frame, tiny bezel and plenty of ports. Naturally, as an LED, contrast isn’t going to be world-beating as its OLEDs and QLED varieties, and the Roku OS doesn’t provide the quickest response to inputs. Still it offers acceptable performance for the price, and you’ll be bathed in light from every one of its 70 inches.

55-inch Class Q 4K QLED Smart Roku TV

This beautiful TCL 4K QLED features tiny quantum LEDs to showcase your movies and gaming sessions in glorious brightness and contrast. Games are also rendered with stunning smoothness, thanks to the 120 Hz refresh rate and VRR courtesy of dual HDMI 2.1 connectors.

This is an excellent value TV with few gaping weaknesses, though there’s room for improvement in its tight viewing angle, so consider other options if you regularly host watch parties. That said, there’s decent performance for movies, with IMAX Enhanced Certification—meaning it meets exacting standards of resolution, brightness and sonic fidelity—as well as Dolby Audio and Dolby Vision.

65-inch Class 6-Series 4K Mini-LED Roku TV

This TCL 6-Series TV is on the pricier end of the spectrum for Roku devices, but it still offers a lot for your money. Notably, the mini LED screen features 288 local dimming zones, which allows for more precise illumination and brilliant contrast.

Whether for gaming, movies, TV shows or sports, picture quality is excellent. This TV also comes with HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby IQ, the latter of which utilizes a sensor to automatically adjust the picture to suit your room. However, there’s no HDMI 2.1 support, so avid gamers won’t feel the benefit of 4K gaming. Still, if you have the budget for it, this gorgeous TV has all the smarts and Roku functionality you need.
