If you’ve ever wanted to get closer to Ed Sheeran, now is your chance.

The Eyes Closed crooner—who is one of the most in-demand artists right amid his “+ – = ÷ x Tour”—was honored with a brand new wax figure in Hamburg, Germany.

The figure, made in his likeness, was unveiled on July 13, 2023, at Panoptikum Hamburg, the country’s oldest wax museum founded in 1879 by Friedrich Hermann Faerber.

Photos of the figure show the Thinking Out Loud singer in his laidback style—a white long-sleeve shirt topped with a black t-shirt, rolled up to show off his tattoos, paired with loose-fitting navy jeans and red and black kicks. His signature shaggy ginger hair was left disheveled as he held a guitar over his shoulder, with the wax figure capturing the overall essence of the artist.

From far away, it seems like a dead ringer for Sheeran, however, upon closer inspection, there’s, admittedly, something slightly off in the presentation that makes you do a double-take—an opinion that one fan seemed to share on Twitter, writing, “there's a new Ed Sheeran wax figure in Germany and well......”

While much information isn’t known about the wax figure, according to Wikipedia, each wax figure made for Panoptikum takes up to two years to complete and costs about €40,000 (roughly $44,750).

It joins other figures in the museum that include Angelina Jolie and Queen Elizabeth II.

This isn’t the first time Sheeran’s lengthy career was celebrated with a wax figure. In 2018, Madame Tussauds debuted a wax figure of the British superstar at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium in London, which even featured his sweet cats surrounding him. The statue—which bore a strikingly realistic resemblance to Sheeran—found him wearing a blue flannel and holding his guitar, ready to belt out a tune.

In 2015, Sheeran got up and close with an earlier version of his wax figure that debuted at Madame Tussauds in New York City, taking a handful of selfies with his doppelganger and even getting a closer peek at the spot-on tats.

At the time, he admitted he was pleased with the replica, captioning one of the selfies on Instagram, “Met my waxwork at Madame Tussaud, he didn't say much but he's got a bulge so it's all good."

“I'm excited for my parents to see it. I think it'll be quite weird for me but I think for my parents to see what they created,” he said, per Huff Post, noting, "It's so f---king weird! They've even got my lazy eye in, it's kind of pointing that way.”

As for the process of getting immortalized in wax, Sheeran told The Mirror that they “put you in grey underwear and a grey vest and you stand there for two hours as strangers poke you.”

Wax figures of celebrities have become a controversial topic, often sparking debates about whether the statue bears any resemblance to its subject, with Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, and Dua Lipa’s figures recently drawing mixed reactions.
