Ed Sheeran Pauses Concert to Celebrate Sweet Moment Between Fans: ‘My First Gender Reveal’

Ed Sheeran made a couple's dream come true, sweetly hosting a gender reveal in the middle of his concert over the weekend.

In a now-viral clip taking over nearly all social media platforms, the "Eyes Closed" singer pauses his concert in Kansas City on Saturday to share the special moment between two fans, as well as the entire stadium.

Sheeran, 32, appears onstage wearing a dark pair of cargo pants, a matching black t-shirt and his guitar, holding a sealed envelope. As he struggles to open the piece of paper, the crowd can be heard anxiously cheering him on.

"It's a girl!" Sheeran exclaims as the crowd erupts in joy-filled roars.

The English singer-songwriter also shared a high-quality and close-up version of the video on his Instagram grid, writing in the caption, "My first gender reveal."

In the clip shared on Sheeran's social media, it's revealed that the Grammy-winning artist was in the middle of singing his 2017 hit "Perfect" when he decided to make the big announcement.

"I will get back to singing 'Perfect,'" he said while tearing into the letter and hyping up the crowd. Sheeran then wished the couple well, sharing his own experience as a parent.

"Can I just say as a father of two daughters, it's very awesome. It's very awesome. Congratulations."

The happy couple featured in the video later shared the clip on social media, writing, "Thank you, Ed Sheeran for making this a night to remember for years to come!! Especially right before our Wedding Song!! We couldn’t be more than happy to be the first person you do a gender reveal for!!"

And while this certainly was one of the greatest moments of all time for the soon-to-be parents (and arguably Sheeran), fans aren't so ready to let him off the hook for the other sensational surprises he's shared with fans.

"Bringing out Eminem in Detroit is your goated performance," one wrote, referencing Sheeran's decision to surprise the crowd with the guest rapper during a performance last month.

Not to mention, a couple of weeks before that, the singer shocked New York City with a pop-up concert in the streets.

"That was a very surprising and special moment, not a proposal, but something new for a change 👶😍," another shared, calling back to a proposal that occurred while Sheeran was performing.

Sheeran, who will continue his tour across the West Coast and Canada through mid-September, is also the father to two young daughters, Lyra and Jupiter.
