The singer didn't hold back any emotion in the trailer for his upcoming docuseries.

Ed Sheeran didn't hold back when it came to filming his new docuseries, Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All.

The "Shape of You" singer shared raw emotion in the trailer for the upcoming Disney+ biopic highlighting Sheeran's unlikely rise to fame and how the artist navigates life's challenges–including losing his best friend and mentor, Jamal Edwards.

Sheeran, 32, recalled last year, around the same time his wife Cherry Seaborn's health issues started resulting in her being diagnosed with a tumor while pregnant with their second child, his longtime pal, Edwards, suddenly passed away at age 31 in February 2022.

As his tears flowed, he explained how while mourning his loss, he had also been in talks with Disney about filming a potential documentary that would follow him in the studio and on tour. But after his experiences, he realized that the docuseries would be about how his career and musical journey is also about healing.

"Every time something massive happens, I tend to write a song about it," he revealed in what seemed to be a teaser for the tribute track he dropped earlier this year called "F64," honoring Edwards and his legacy.

But before breaking down in tears, Sheeran celebrated his career successes, growing family and ever-loving friendship before the tragedy struck. The trailer introduced Sheeran's life story starting from the beginning.

While shuffling through archival footage from his childhood, the artist described himself as the type of guy that "doesn't become a pop star." The nostalgic montage is then met with more-recent clips of Sheeran performing sold-out venues, traveling and meeting fans all across the globe, noting that "the sum of it all is just a fraction of the story."

Sheeran's new series is set to stream exclusively on Disney+ beginning May 3.
