The beginning of the new year is the perfect opportunity to try to live more sustainably. And as more designers incorporate sustainability into their work, chic, eco-friendly designs are becoming easier and easier to find. Case in point? This chair that’s made of 100% upcycled household plastic.

The N02™ Recycle chair was designed by Japanese studio Nendo in collaboration with Danish furniture brand Fritz Hansen. This stackable chair was inspired by a crease of paper on the designer’s table. Its backrest has a single horizontal “fold” line, which creates a visible continuity between the chairs when they’re placed next to each other. The crease is also meant to make the chair more comfortable by helping support your lower back and creating space around your waist. The thickness of the backrest helps make the chair more comfortable, too.

But the best feature of the chair is that the plastic used to make the seat is recycled polypropylene, which is 100 percent upcycled. It comes from household plastic waste that was collected, processed, and upcycled in central Europe. And it gets better: The shell is made of recycled plastic that can be recycled again. Who knew household waste could look so sleek?

The seat is available in seven warm-toned colors: dark orange, dark red, dark blue, light blue, grey, black, and of white. You can choose from five different versions of the chair, which are all stackable. Some varying features include arm rests, chrome legs, a swivel base, and a sled base.

While the chairs are great for the environment, they'll do some damage to your wallet. They range in price from $340 to $717.
