Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables...Really!

If you hadn’t already heard or absorbed this universal truth of healthfulness, it’s officially time to stock up on fruits and veggies. New analysis by researchers in the United States and China suggests that people who scarf down five servings of produce a day are less likely to die of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Perhaps this isn’t the most shocking news in the world, but it does fly in the face of a recent study published in the ”Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health,” which suggested that a person needs to eat a whole seven portions for the same benefit.

That’s a lot of fruits and veggies. And happily enough, the new analysis—which incorporated results from 16 different studies and 833,234 participants—says five portions is just peachy.

Here’s the bottom line: Fruits and veggies are the real deal. Eat them now. Stay alive. Starting with these dishes:
