Craftsy Kids Bread Baking Kit ($30)

This DIY bread-making kit is a fun holiday project parents can do with their kids. The kit comes with all of the ingredients you need to make several different types of bread, an instruction booklet, kid-friendly baking tools, and a kid-size Craftsy apron. To make cooking easy, you also get access to a bread-making video tutorial on Craftsy’s site for foolproof baking, with some kid-friendly science facts included.

“I absolutely love this kit,” says Mami CrayCray. “So you have a watch-along and you have someone giving you instructions on how to use everything in here and make awesome bread. It pretty much can make anything — you can make a baguette, brioche, pita, bagel, challah, focaccia. Anything you want to make that’s bread, you basically can from this kit.”

With this kit, kids get a rare underground view of vegetables that they can grow themselves. The kit comes with a Styrofoam base with a built-in water basin and window for watching three types of root vegetables grow (carrots, radishes and scallions), three seed packets and eight soil mix wafers.

“You and your children can enjoy watching these vegetables grow and have the accomplishment of knowing that you did it yourself,” she says.

She adds: “These DIY kits are really, really awesome to make the job easy and fun, not only for the kids but [also] for mom.”
