Eastern Canada's Largest Ski Resort Reporting First Snowfall Of The Season

Snow lovers rejoice. Winter is slowly is creeping in across the northern half of the continent.

Eastern Canada's largest ski resort, Mont Tremblant, recorded its first snowfall of the season on Monday, October 9th, 2023. The resort took to social media to share photos of the wet and heavy snow that accumulated on the summit.

See below:

From the caption: "The scenery changed colour last night ❄️ We received the very first snow of the season at the top of the mountain. The ski season is less than 2 months away, are you ready?"

The season's first snowfall doesn't usually stick around. That appears to be the case on the morning of October 10th, 2023. A quick look at Tremblant's webcams shows that the ground is soaked with rain and melted snow.

No matter. Quebecers won't mind. Snow in the beginning of October is simply a bonus. A sign of better times to come.

Mont Tremblant has set November 23rd, 2023 as their targeted opening day, weather and conditions permitting, of course.

The excitement for a big season is building across the east coast.

Mont Tremblant, Whiteface, and Mount Washington have all reported first snows, and weather forecasters are predicting a strong chance for multiple Nor'easters to develop this winter thanks to an intense El Niño event developing in the Pacific Ocean.

Will their predictions of "huge snowstorms" come true? That remains to be seen, but I'm making daily prayers to the snow gods for the sake of my fellow east coasters. They've had it rough over the last couple of years.

On a personal note, I'm moving to the Lake Tahoe area soon. Imagine that? An east coast skier moving to California. How original...!

It would be fitting if the east got absolutely slammed with record snowfall the season I finally grew the courage to up and leave.

For my ice coast brethren, I hope it happens!
