Dylan O'Brien Describes the Opening Sequence of "Maze Runner: The Death Cure"

And it sounds so intense.

Maze Runner fans have only a few more weeks to wait until the third (and final) film in the franchise hits theaters. The Death Cure has already promised to be full of action and suspense, as shown in the trailer last fall, but according to Dylan O'Brien, viewers have no idea what they are in for.

In an interview with PopCulture.com, the actor revealed some secrets about the opening sequence — and it sounds super-intense. "It’s long," Dylan said of the film's introduction. "It’s like 14 minutes. It reminds me of Indiana Jones. It shows you what the characters have been up to. It does it all in that opening 20 minutes."

Actor Dexter Darden echoed Dylan's comments, adding: "For me, it was just so exciting because it’s the final chapter, so [director] Wes [Ball] really wanted to start off with a bang. We want to go save our homie [Minho]. We want to go save our brother."

Maze Runner: The Death Cure carries a special significance for fans after Dylan was seriously injured on set, causing the film's production to be pushed back. Luckily, the actor reached a full recovery and was able to rejoin the cast. It seems as though the final installment in the three-part series meant a lot to Dylan as well (despite the fact that his injury "tainted" his feelings about the franchise for a while). While talking about the beginning of The Death Cure, the actor added: "Especially with the gap between the last movie and this one, it's just a great way to throw everyone back into the world." We're ready to be thrown back, too.
