Dylan Dreyer is every mom who’s dealt with a carsick kiddo
Just because she’s an anchor for TODAY doesn’t mean that Dylan Dreyer is safe from the less-than-appealing aspects of motherhood. One of the worst parts—even worse than diapers in my opinion—is the dreaded car-sick puke in the car seat. Yes, car seats these days are impressive feats of modern science, and every buckle, snap, and pad is precisely placed for our child’s safety and comfort in mind. However, that doesn’t take away the fact that its a complete pain in the a** to pull apart, clean, and disinfect each and every buckle, snap, and pad after its been puked on.
And forget about trying to get that smell out anytime soon.
Dreyer posted a photo of herself crouching next to a disassembled car seat with the caption, “Car seats should come with a puke-proof cover of some kind. Something easy to clean because inevitably every child will vomit all over every nook and cranny of this thing. It’s impossibly disgusting to take apart to clean and painstakingly difficult to put back together.”
And of course parents everywhere took to the comment section to offer advice, shared trauma, and their badges of honor when it came to cleaning up kid puke out of a car seat. One mom just couldn’t take it: “I threw away a perfectly good car seat last year because I got so frustrated! I feel this post in my soul,” she said. Another offered some pretty solid advice: “Take a video of yourself taking it apart to reference when putting back together.” Genius.
Some other good advice in the comment section: “Sprinkle the puke with baking soda & let it dry, much easier to pick up that way.” Kind of reminds you of that pine stuff that had that distinctive smell janitors used in elementary school when a kid puked. Why did we all puke so much in elementary school by the way?
“Shark Tank has entered the chat,” another fan said. And the comment that won the internet that day: “Car seats are the new printers. Should just throw it away and start over.”
