There are a lot of cool things out there that make us wonder — do they really work? In our I Tried It series, we set out to use them in the real world and have determined that, in fact, they really do.

On Trial: Godefroy Tint Kit for Spot Coloring on my eyebrows

Tester: Bridget Clegg, who wants the "woke up like this" beauty routine with a bargain-bin price tag

The Brief: I'm fair-skinned with medium-brown eyebrows that I typically fill in with a brow pencil. That step in the makeup routine, however, seemed like too much hassle for my current life at home. While I know there are professionals who spend their days shaping and tinting brows all over New York City, I wanted an at-home solution that wouldn't cost me in monthly beauty maintenance dollars. When I saw actor, dancer, and Insta-babe Angela Trimbur trying out Godefroy's tint kit on her gorgeous brown brows, I knew I had to give it a try. To get that kind of definition without the upkeep of a daily gel or pencil? Sign me up.

I ordered the tint kit in medium brown to match the brow pencil shade I usually use. The application process only takes a few minutes from start to finish. First, I read the instructions and watched a couple YouTube videos to gain confidence. Then I started with clean brows, mixed the pill full of dye with a quarter teaspoon of developer in the tiny bowl provided, and applied the cream with the brush to my right eyebrow as I would a brow pencil. I left it on for just over a minute before wiping it off with a damp paper towel and starting again on the left brow. After analyzing the results, I decided I wanted to go a little darker and went in for a second minute-long application on each brow.

Depending on your usual look, darker brows can take a little getting used to. This product works quickly, so I advise starting with a shorter dye time and doing more applications, since you'll be able to go progressively darker with each one. It's lovely to wake up with the

definition that it normally would have taken a brow gel to achieve. My new routine is just a quick swipe of clear mascara on my brows to keep the hairs in place.

The color doesn't fade so much as your brows grow out. One application lasted me about 5 weeks before I started noticing any change. There are a shocking 20 dye capsules in a box, so it's extremely affordable.

With the success of the tint kit, I decided to check out Godefroy's 28-Day Mascara to dye my eyelashes in the hopes of skipping mascara, too! This one is a bit trickier to apply since you've got one eye closed and the provided wand doesn't swipe on the dye cleanly. My brown lashes came out darker and glossier, but not at the mascara levels I had hoped for.

Closing Argument:

Godefroy's Tint Kit for Spot Coloring surpassed my expectations. I always thought dyeing my own brows was a risk I wasn't willing to take, but this kit makes it so easy. It's definitely going in the "DIY Wins" column for me!
