The newest season of Dancing With the Stars has been filled with a lot of shock among the awe. But nothing has surprised people more than Sean Spicer's ability to avoid elimination week after week, despite his consistently low scores. Just last week, judges failed to hide their disappointment when Spicer was saved, forcing them to choose between Queer Eye star Karamo Brown and The Office alum Kate Flannery. (They ultimately decided to eliminate Brown, in case you cared.) Now, even Spicer's own partner is surprised that he's still dancing.

This week, the former press secretary was paired with recently eliminated pro Jenna Johnson after his usual partner, Lindsay Arnold, had to go home following the death of her mother-in-law. The duo performed a jazz routine to "Come Sail Away," and earned earning some sarcasm and "A for effort" comments from the judges. Later in the evening, the two squared off against Flannery and pro Pasha Kovalev in a cha-cha dance-off. Despite their best efforts, Spicer and Johnson lost the battle, leaving them with the lowest score of the night — a 20.

But Spicer low score, and history of disappointing performances, didn't seem to matter to the voters. When it came time to announce who would be in the bottom two, co-host Erin Andrews announced Spicer as the first celebrity safe from elimination. Shock was heard among the audience and seen on Johnson's face.
