Tom Bergeron is coming out of retirement on one particular social media platform, and he's doing so to benefit a cause that's personal to him.

On July 14, the former Dancing With the Stars host went on Instagram to announce that he decided to re-open submissions for fans to receive a video from him on Cameo for $75 a piece. In the short snippet, he explained the reason behind his return to the website after stepping away from it a while back. Tom chose to revive his Cameo account to help people involved in the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes.

"Hi there. Tom Bergeron here," he said in the Instagram video. "Just wanted to let you know I'm coming out of my lengthy Cameo hiatus to raise money for those on the picket lines for SAG-AFTRA and also the Writers' Guild."

Tom continued: "So, if you book a Cameo with yours truly, I will give 100% of my proceeds to support those striking for better wages, better conditions, for both SAG-AFTRA and the Writers' Guild. Hope to talk to you!"

When folks saw that the America's Funniest Home Video's alum asked them to support his fellow Hollywood colleagues, they felt compelled to commend Tom in the comments.

"You are an inspiration!" one person wrote on Instagram. "Always in awe of you, you’re a good human Tom 🤍," another agreed. "Tom you are an absolute hero ❤️," a different fan chimed in.

As some may know, the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) writers' strike started in May after the organization attempted to negotiate a deal with major production studios amid a contract expiration. Deadline reported that the causes they're fighting for include: fair TV and film contracts, the use of artificial intelligence and the status of current jobs and compensation for employment on episodic television.

As for the SAG-AFTRA strike, it began on July 14, citing similar issues as the writers' strike. It happened after one month of trying to secure a new three-year contract with studios, according to the Associated Press.

With both strikes in effect, this could mean delays in a number of scripted movies and TV shows. Dancing With the Stars season 32, on the other hand, will still premiere sometime this fall on ABC and Disney+. As for Tom, it appears that he'll be trying to do his part from the sidelines.
