Dwayne Johnson Reveals First 'Black Adam' Trailer

Dwayne Johnson has unveiled the first official trailer for Black Adam, revealing a wider glimpse at his DC Extended Universe debut in the role of the titular antihero.

"This passion project has become my DNA and the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe will change," Johnson wrote on Instagram alongside the trailer on Wednesday. "The world needed a hero. It got BLACK ADAM."

The film, which is directed by James Collet-Serra based on a script written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, follows the aftermath of Black Adam's release from his earthly tomb. Almost 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the power of Shazam from the ancient gods and instantly imprisoned, the plot sees Black Adam ready to "unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world," according to DC.

The movie will also welcome members of the Justice Society of America, who will attempt to halt Black Adams' plans. The superhero cast will feature Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Additionally, the cast includes Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer and Uli Latukefu.

Black Adam will premiere in theaters on October 21. Watch the first official trailer above.
