The Durrells in Corfu is heading back to Masterpiece PBS for one last season. Here's everything we know about the story's final episodes so far.

The Durrells will return to TV this fall.

Go ahead and mark your calendars for September 29, but unfortunately, this next season will be the show's last.

"We’re going back to Corfu for one last firefly fuelled adventure of love and mishap," said executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle.

"It has been such an incredible journey following this warm and enchanting family come of age, but their adventures on the island have reached a natural conclusion. I can't think about it without crying though..."

Keeley Hawes, who plays the role of the Durrell matriarch Louisa, and also serves as an executive producer on the series has also spoken out about wrapping up the show. "I'm delighted to be heading back to Corfu for a final series of The Durrells. It's been such a wonderful series to work on and I'm so pleased that viewers have taken the family to their hearts as much as we have," she said before calling out writer Simon Nye.

"It's been such a wonderful series to work on and I'm so pleased that viewers have taken the family to their hearts as much as we have I have no doubt that the brilliant Simon Nye will give the family a fitting and fabulous farewell.”

But don't go hunting for spoilers, the season has already aired in the U.K.

The program is said to be one of Queen Elizabeth's favorite shows.

While on the set of The Crown (on which he will play a young Prince Charles), Josh O'Connor, who plays Larry in The Durrells was speaking with a crew member about The Durrells.

Somewhere in the conversation, O'Connor stopped listening. "Previously, they had taken a photo of me [dressed as Prince Charles] and sent it to someone, who’d sent it to someone else, who’d then sent it to someone else. As they were explaining it, I’d lost interest about who’d the photo had been sent to... The crew member said that someone who saw the picture told him, 'I loved him in The Durrells, it’s one of my favorite shows.' I just said, 'Oh, that’s good,' thanked him and walked off."

What O'Connor didn't realize was that the crew was talking about Queen Elizabeth.

"This crew member has managed to get this picture of me to the Queen who’d said that she loved me in The Durrells! The real life Queen!" he said. "So we have another fan! It was a great thing for us. We were so pleased."
