Duchess Sophie’s One-and-Done Navy Shirtdress Is the Item We All Need in Our Closet

King Charles and Kate Middleton may be temporarily out of the spotlight due to health issues, but the women of Windsor—Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh—have been working overtime to help pick up the royal slack.

Case in point: This week, Sophie visited the London College of Fashion and dressed to impress in a navy Emilia Wickstead shirtdress ($2,160). The price is steep, but the sartorial lesson is clear: A navy shirtdress is the royal-approved closet staple we didn’t know we needed. Before we continue, a bit more about Sophie’s visit to the London College of Fashion: The Duchess of Edinburgh is actually patron of the London College of Fashion and was there to view the Postgraduate Class of 2024’s exhibition and observe a digital garment fitting in the school’s learning lab.

But back to the shirtdress: It’s versatility for both work (and for fun) was on full display during Sophie’s visit. The navy hue and midi length also gives it a touch of glam. (We love that Sophie chose to pair it with matchy-matchy navy Manolos and a grey clutch.) So, how do you get the look?
