Dua Lipa's Christmas Nails Are Unlike Any Holiday Manicure You've Ever Seen Before

Dua Lipa put on a fabulous performance as Saturday Night Live's last musical guest of 2020, and she definitely deserved a little pampering afterward. A holiday manicure was in order, and from none other than her go-to nail artist Mei Kawajiri — but this isn't just another sparkly red and green mani or nails with a 3D reindeer glued on. Lipa's nails are a truly unique take on some Christmas themes.

Lipa was already wearing an adorable heart-pattern manicure by Kawajiri before switching it up, and she decided to stick to a heart theme — though with a totally different vibe. The manicure features a different vibrant base color on each nail — red, pink, teal, sky blue, and fuchsia — most of which are topped off with a contemporary pop-art-style heart in a variety of equally bright shades. But look carefully and you'll see details like thorns and fire among the polka dots and flowers — nods to Catholic Sacred Heart symbolism.

The two fuchsia nails feature recognizable Renaissance imagery of the Virgin Mary and one of Raphael's angels from his famous painting, Sistine Madonna.

Lipa shared Kawajiri's closeups on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, after what Kawajiri tells Allure was a one-and-a-half-hour manicure session. And the comments on Kawajiri's post reflect just how much fans love this masterpiece. Several fans even made a reference to one of Lipa's songs, with one writing, "Love is Religion vibesss."

It may not be the candy-cane stripes or snowy white shimmer we typically see in holiday manicures, but it's most definitely an amazing take on Christmas nails.
