Dua Lipa Reacts to Gigi Hadid's Pregnancy: “It's Very Exciting News”
ICYMI – but really, how could you? — Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are expecting a baby. The news has everyone over the moon, from fans to family members, and that includes Dua Lipa, who is currently dating Gigi’s brother Anwar Hadid.
The “Don’t Start Now” singer recently chatted with The Edge NZ, where she was asked how she feels about becoming an “auntie.”
“Yeah! It's very exciting news,” Dua said in response to being congratulated, per E! News. “We're very, very excited.” The singer-songwriter also noted that she hasn’t known about Gigi and Zayn’s growing family for very long, adding that she was told “a little bit” before the exciting news hit social media earlier this week.
TMZ first reported Gigi’s pregnancy on April 28, with the model confirming the news just two days later. “Obviously we wish we could have announced it on our own terms, but we're very excited and happy and grateful for everyone's well wishes and support,” Gigi said in an at-home appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “We're happy now to be able to be excited. Especially during this time it's a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it day by day.”
As for Dua, she has been social distancing with Anwar and trying to make the most out of an uncertain time. “Of course Anwar misses his family, and soon we’ll hopefully get to go back and see them,” she said in a recent interview with Elle. “But now that we get all this extra time, we’re just making the most of it. And that’s been really nice. We’re trying to see the bright side.”
