Dua Lipa Masters Neo-Disco Style in Her New Video

Dua Lipa’s already proved that she knows how to dress for a party—she did take on Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas last year with her mom by her side, after all—but she takes her going out style to new heights in her new video for post-breakup disco anthem “Don’t Start Now.” The new visual, directed by Nabil, follows Lipa on a jam-packed (and slightly trippy) night out. First, she performs at a local pub, then she somehow finds her way into a masquerade ball surrounded partygoers sipping champagne in powdered wigs; finally, we find her dancing underneath a disco ball at a dimly lit nightclub.

The video is also a fine showcase for Lipa’s expert post-breakup style. While dancing with a boy at the club, Lipa sings, “If you don’t want to see me dancing with somebody/If you want to believe that anything could stop me/Don’t show up, don’t come out/Don’t start caring about me now.” And with the strappy bright yellow Versace bra top and light wash Marni jeans that Lipa wears (she throws off her orange Raf Simons coat early in the clip), Lipa really does look carefree in the best way possible. What better way to handle a recent heartbreak than to go full disco queen?
