Dua Lipa Isn't Pregnant, She Just Used Some Really Confusing Emojis

Dua Lipa is shutting down looming pregnancy rumors and blames her playful emoji usage for the misunderstanding.

During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Future Nostalgia artist quickly dismissed fan speculation that the Grammy winner would soon be expecting a baby with her boyfriend, Anwar Hadid. The confusion began last week, when Lipa shared a photo to Instagram of herself in a plaid cutout minidress that originally had a caption with a slew of emojis including baby-related icons: a bottle, pacifier, teddy bear, and an angel. Lipa has since deleted that caption so as to not mislead her fans further.

"I like finding little random emojis. I put, like, a little baby bottle, a little angel, some sparkles. Random. I really didn't think this through," Lipa explained to Kimmel during her appearance. "I posted it, and then I look at the comments, and then somebody says, 'Is she pregnant?' And I look at the picture, I look at the comment, I look at the picture, I look at the comment, [and] I'm like, 'Surely, I don't look pregnant.' And then, I see that people have been writing stories saying that I posted some cryptic message that I might be announcing my pregnancy. And I'm just like, 'Oh, my God. These emojis have come to bite me in the ass.'"

After explaining her emoji etiquette, Lipa clarified that, no, she is not expecting and seemingly has no plans to be anytime soon.

"I am not pregnant, just to clear it up," said Lipa. "Not pregnant."
