In keeping with their signature party spirit, Dean and Dan Caten for resort imagined the morning after of a group of girls who hang out together talking about the night before. “They chill out, they are in the ‘I don’t care mood,’ they try on clothes and they just have fun,” said Dan Caten during a preview at the Dsquared2 showroom in Milan.

The designers delivered a playful collection, rich with colors, prints and textures. “She is mean, but she is also sweet,” said Dean Caten, referring to the juxtaposition in the lineup of tomboy elements — including baggy cargo pants embellished with the Canadian flag and graffiti, grungy oversize cardigans and flocked boyfriend jeans — with highly feminine tea dresses printed with grandmother’s wallpaper prints, boucle separates with denim touches, glamorous crystal bra tops and embroidered evening frocks.

Childlike details added extra fun in the form of hand-sketched multicolor motifs splashed on dresses and cute patches, including one showing a cartoony cat wearing a belt with the buckle in the shape of a maple leaf.

The laid-back spirit of the lineup was further reflected in the use of hippie-like touches, such as crochet or wooden beaded vests, while a range of suits, worked in a charming color palette of both pastels and bold hues, anchored the look to a hip metropolitan vibe.
