One Bottle of This Drugstore Facial Cleanser Is Sold Every Four Seconds

Ten years ago — maybe even five — micellar water was a largely unfamiliar concept to the average skin-care shopper. Now, however, it's a household name in so many bathroom vanities, making face cleansing easier and more thorough because of its ability to lift away dirt and makeup like a gentle yet powerful magnet. And while many brands make micellar water, there's a good chance the bottle in your household is by Garnier. That's because one of the beloved drugstore brand's micellar waters sells every four seconds.

According to a Nielsen year-to-date sales report from mid-October, Garnier's micellar waters are flying off shelves — both the real and virtual kind — at a rate of 15 bottles per minute. That's 900 bottles an hour, 21,600 bottles a day, 151,200 a week, and nearly eight million bottles every year, making it probable that you or someone you know has at least one bottle from the variety of micellar waters Garnier offers.

Allure editors are especially partial to the original Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover and Cleanser, which won Best of Beauty Awards in 2016 and 2017, and promises to get skin as clean as can be without harsh rubbing. But that's just one of the micellar waters factoring into this impressive stat. There's also the Micellar Cleansing Water All-In-1 Waterproof Makeup Remover & Cleanser for clearing away stubborn waterproof makeup, All-in-One Mattifying Micellar Cleansing Water to help de-shine oily skin, all available in travel and jumbo sizes too.

The latest addition to the line is Garnier SkinActive Water Rose Micellar Cleansing Water, an update to the famous formula and includes rose water and glycerin for an especially hydrating and soothing effect while you wipe away the day's residue. Bonus: It smells like roses, and at $9 it's the same price as the original formula.

If you somehow haven't contributed to Garnier micellar waters' proven popularity, let this serve as a reminder to finally give it a try.
