Instead of praising parents for getting on the floor (ouch!) and reading to their (very distractible) toddlers, the internet instead prefers to nitpick and complain. *Insert long-suffering sigh here.* Case in point: Drew Scott’s latest video. He is snuggling with his son Parker, 20 months, and reading to him in a cute clip, but everyone is focused on one annoying — and utterly predictable — problem they had.

In the video, the Property Brothers co-host is reading Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes to his toddler. As he reads the book, he gets to a section where Pete the Cat sings, so Scott croons, “I love my blue shoes. I love my blue shoes.” Parker sits cuddled up to his dad, helping turn the pages and fully enthralled by the cute story.

“Thank you @petethecatofficial for a song that’s been stuck in my head for days. 😂” the HGTV star captioned the adorable video.

What could people possibly have to complain about this video, you may be thinking. I mean, seriously, even his pitch was on point! Well, it’s the same problem they always have: people are mad they can’t see Parker’s face.

The Comments

“Honestly just don’t show video of your son at all if you are afraid to show his face. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️” one person wrote.

Another commented, “Will we ever get to see that cutie??”

“It’s getting ridiculous don’t know why they are hiding his face,” someone else wrote. Um, maybe because of hateful internet trolls? Parents don’t have to share their kid’s face or avoid posting on the internet for the rest of time. This whole argument is just tired and pointless. Just enjoy a cute video for what it is!

Luckily, many other people were nice. “Best dad and cutest boy! Reading 📖 is something they will always remember. ❤️” one person wrote. Very true!

“excellent story teller 😍👏👏👏” another praised.

Scott is actually a children’s author himself. He co-wrote Builder Brothers: Big Plans and Builder Brothers: Better Together with his brother Jonathan Scott. These best-selling books are about twin brothers inspired by the real-life brothers who build and have fun together.

Speaking of building, Scott is currently working on building his family. His wife Linda Phan is pregnant with their second child.

“Round 2👶 I hope Parker’s ready for a lil company❤️❤️,” Scott captioned a photo of his toddler reaching out to touch his mom’s baby bump. Such a cutie!
