Drew Scott Fondly Recalls Watching Twin Brother Jonathan Blossom as a Bonus Parent to Zooey Deschanel's Kids

Drew Scott got to witness “a whole other side” of his twin brother Jonathan Scott when he took on a new role, and it has everything to do with the latter twin’s fiancé.

After Jonathan began dating Zooey Deschanel in 2019, the HGTV star embraced an unexplored arena of life: stepfatherhood. Drew fondly recalled witnessing Jonathan step up to the role, and he shed some light on his brother’s relationship with Deschanel’s daughter Elsie, 7, and son Charlie, 5, during a conversation with People.

“They’re so good together,” Drew opined. He continued, “Jonathan, he became an insta-dad with the kids. It’s really great to see a whole other side of him there, too.”

The New Girl alum welcomed both her children with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik. The former couple married in 2015, and in early 2019, they decided to part ways. Though they’re divorced, Deschanel and Pechenik have an amicable co-parenting relationship. In fact, the exes posed for a Father’s Day photo with their kids and Jonathan this past holiday, proving blended families can be just as happy and beautiful as traditional families.

Sharing the group shot on Instagram, the Elf actress wrote, “As a mom in a co-parenting family I am just so grateful for the dads in mine and my kids’ lives! From Daddy (Jacob), to Bonus Daddy (big-dad Jonathan), Papa (Caleb) and Grandpa Jim. We are blessed with amazing father figures,” she gushed. Deschanel added, “Happy Father’s Day to all who father and nurture and mentor today! Hope you feel celebrated. 🩶🩵”

In addition to the photo of all five blended family members, Deschanel also shared a few candid moments between Jonathan and her kids, Pechenik and their littles, and a shot of Jonathan and Pechenik enjoying a theme park attraction together. It’s exactly the wholesome family content we love to see.

Additionally, Jonathan shared a few sweet moments with Elsie and Charlie on his own Instagram in honor of Father’s Day. “Being a bonus dad has been one of my greatest accomplishments and adventures so far,” the Property Brothers star wrote. He added, “Thank you Dad for the advice over the years and #HappyFathersDay to all the father figures out there. ❤️”
